NEXT Invitational Exhibition of Emerging Art
Chicago, IL
| Lyons Wier Ortt Gallery will be participating in the NEXT Invitational Art Fair from April 23 – 28.
NEXT, a new invitational art fair installed in 150,000 square feet of space on the 7th floor of the Merchandise Mart, Chicago, April 25-28, 2008, to complement Art Chicago 2008, will offer focused curatorial visions of some of the most important developments in contemporary art. NEXT will include works from both commercial and non-commercial arts organizations as well as galleries, project spaces, artist collectives, art publications and key private contemporary collections. A virtual clearing-house for the best of contemporary art, NEXT presents a new, selectively curated exhibition format that brings together—in one exhibition space—the most cutting-edge contemporary artists and arts organizations in the world. At this venue, we will feature 6 new paintings by Fahamu Pecou, who recently garnered international acclaim during Basel Miami this past December. Furthering his success from Miami, Lyons Wier Ortt Gallery will present his new work displayed in a VIP Lounge atmosphere. Fahamu Pecou will be present for the entire fair to promote his new paintings and sign copies of his much anticipated concept catalog – FAHAMENON. FAHAMENON is an original catalogue designed like a high-end pop-culture magazine. FAHAMENON features self-promotional articles and “ads” along with selections from Pecou’s NEOPOP series and a DVD of his mockumentary, Instant Celebrity: Just Add Water. FAHAMENON will be available as a signed and numbered limited edition, and as a magazine. NEXT attendees will be invited to meet the artist and mingle with his entourage. Drawing inspiration from his performance persona as “Art Star”, this weeklong happening will prove to be a seminal statement in Fahamu Pecou’s accelerating career. We also be featuring a solo statement of new work by ANTHONY LISTER. Dates and Hours: Thursday, April 24th: Opening Night Preview Friday, April 25th: 11am – 7pm Saturday, April 26th: 11am – 7pm Sunday, April 27th: 11am – 6pm Monday, April 28, 11am – 4pm |
