In the afternoon of May 14, Professor Li Shuncheng from West Ontario University brought us a wonderful academic report. Professor Li Shuncheng is a research scientist with outstanding achievements in the fields of chemistry, biochemistry, molecular cell biology and proteomics. In West Ontario University he founded the first high-throughput biological laboratory，developed the methods about decrypting domain specificity of protein interaction by peptide and protein chip. Now he used mass spectrometry decoding the cancer mechanism of protein modification and marginal genetics.
His report Proteomics and the pathway to precision medicine tell us, in a variety of cancers the cytoplasm will changes in a variety of proteins, especially protein modification based on the phosphorylation and dephosphorylation. He attained a cheap and efficient protein in a kind of natural protein modified. The protein can be used as the antibody to identify the tyrosine phosphorylation sites, and screen thousands of never before found phosphorylation sites. Acting on these sites though drugs can cause cancer cell death, which may serve as a way for future cancer drug target screening. His novel report, focusing on the anti-cancer drug development theme widespread concerned by current society, attracted the audience bursts of applause.
